Dorothy L. Tyson

YORK – Dorothy L. (Deitz) Tyson, 92, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Amoroso Wellness at York. She was the wife of the late Donald D. Tyson, Sr.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 21, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus.

Born October 21, 1930 in York, a daughter of the late Curvin E. and Emma I. (Gingerich) Deitz; she was a 1948 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. Mrs. Tyson had worked at Allis-Chalmers Co. and then retired from McCrory Distribution Co. She was a member of Canadochly Lutheran Church, Lutheran Church Women; CBer’s Social Club, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and making crafts. As a young mother, she was an active Den Mother with Boy Scouts of America and sold Dutchmaid items.

Mrs. Tyson is survived by a son, Donald D. Tyson, Jr. of York; a daughter, Debra A. Howell of York; and a grandson, Daniel Tyson. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eugene “Boe” Howell; a daughter-in-law, Annette M. Tyson; and a granddaughter, Heather Rodriguez.
