Doris J. (Mann) Simmons

Doris J. (Mann) Simmons, 86, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Yorkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Thomas Simmons.

Doris was born on September 7, 1939 in York, daughter of the late Anthony J. and Doris V. (Ditzler) Mann, Jr.. After high school, she worked as a packer at The York Cone Company, home of the York Peppermint Patties. She and her husband, Thomas, enjoyed ocean boating and fishing together before his passing. A devoted aunt, she lovingly cared for her many nieces and nephews. Doris was also a talented baker, known for her cookies, cheesecake, and sausage pot pie, favorites among family and friends

Mrs. Simmons is survived by three brothers, Anthony J. Mann III and wife, Linda of Dover, John Mann and wife, Sylvia of Mesa, AZ, and Harold R. “Bob” Mann and wife, Corina of Dover; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Cathy Campbell, Dorothy Swartz, and Mary Jordan; and a brother, Michael Mann.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is honored to serve the family.
