Doris P. (Porter) Beavers

York—Doris P. (Porter) Beavers, 89, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles L. Thompson and Donald T. Beavers. A private celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Beavers was born August 9, 1918 in State College, a daughter of late George L. and Claire (Borst) Porter. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with Memorial Hospital in York for 18 years, until her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Beavers is survived by three grandchildren, Eric C. Thompson and his wife Kristin of York, and Robert A. Thompson and Robert G. Thompson, both of York, two great-grandchildren, Sandy and Ashley Thompson, three step-children, Donald T. Beavers III, Julian Beavers, both of Calif., and Cynthia Buresh-Dickinson, of Colo., and daughter-in-law, Diane Thompson. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. "Peanut" Thompson, and one daughter, Elizabeth Wagner. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave, York, Pa 17403.
