YORK - Doris E. (Grove) Shelley, 88, of Windsor Township, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Dr. Emerson D. Shelley. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave. in Red Lion, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Her pastor, The Reverend Timothy Funk will be officiating at the service. Following the service a light lunch will be provided at the church. Burial will be private in Red Lion Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. Doris was born in Bridgeton, PA on June 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Alvin G. and Jessie E. (Kimmons) Grove, who passed away when Doris was a child. She was welcomed into the home of Archie and Emma Cross. Doris was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary, Red Lion American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, York County Women’s Dental Auxiliary, and the Red Lion Area Historical Society. Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her love and support for her family was foremost in her life. Doris had a knack for entertaining her family with fun activities and excursions, especially frequent vacations at her condo in Ocean City, Maryland. She will be forever missed but forever remembered. Doris leaves three sons, Eric J. Shelley and his wife Gwendolyn of York, Jeffrey D. Shelley and his wife Fran of Florida, and Kenneth G. Shelley of York; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Shelley, Ryan Sides, Rubin Diaz, and Brandon Wildermuth; and a great granddaughter, Tatum Diaz. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Shelley and a brother, Kenneth G. Grove.
