YORK- Doris R. (Gibbs) Beitzel, 88, of West Manchester Township, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at York South Nursing & Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Linley L.C. Beitzel, Jr. and the long-time companion of the late Thomas H. Long of Strasburg, PA.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Attendees should meet at the main gate at 1:45 pm. Her pastor, The Reverend Abby Leese will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Beitzel was born in York on December 12, 1936, the daughter of the late Eugene Charles and Mildred Irene (Shermeyer) Gibbs. She worked a s a server at Yorktowne Hotel, all four locations of Albertos Pizza, Bren’s Pub, Bird-in-Hand Restaurant, and Infinito’s Buffet.

Mrs. Beitzel was a member Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover. She was an avid bowler in both York and Lancaster County and she loved dancing and reading.

Mrs. Beitzel leaves a daughter, Linda S. Arnold of York, three grandchildren, Jeremy Markley, Shane Arnold, and David Arnold all of York. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Markley, a sister, Nancy Lynn; two brothers, Larry Gibbs of Montana and Gary Gibbs.
