RED LION- Donald L. Jones, 81, of North Hopewell Township, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sarah R. (Graham) Jones and the late Patricia L. (Renoll) Jones.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. The Reverand Donald Rowe will be officiating at the service. The service will be webcast live and can be viewed by searching Donald’s obituary at HeffnerCare.com There will be viewings on Sunday, from 1-3 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York.
Mr. Jones was born in Fallston, MD on June 22, 1944, the son of the late James F. and Virginia (Hildebridle) Jones. He was a 1963 graduate of Red Lion High School. He retired as a supervisor in 2005 after over 30 years of service at Zell Brothers in Red Lion. Prior to that he worked as a supervisor at York Casket Company and McCrory’s Distribution Center.
Mr. Jones was a member of Bethany Church in Red Lion, Dallastown American Legion, Izaak Walton League, Trout Unlimited, Muddy Creek Chapter #575, and had been a member of Red Lion Jaycee’s. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was also known as the turtle man supplying snapping turtles to many local restaurants. He also enjoyed yard sales and auctions.
Along with his wife, Sarah, Donald leaves two sons, Donald L. Jones, Jr of Red Lion, James P. Jones and his wife Jessica of Stewartstown; two step children, Heather Sizemore and her husband Seth of Dallastown and Bryn Stull and his wife Johanna of Philadelphia, He also leaves four grandchildren, Brett Knickel and her husband Steve, Levi P. Jones, Kali Bair and her husband Alex, and Wyatt Bloom and four great grandchildren, Kolton, Koen, Alora, and Adaline.
