Donald E. Moats, Sr.

Donald E. Moats, Sr. “Pap Pap”, 73, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 4:38 a.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Stambaugh) Moats.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. A visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. prior to the service. The service will be webcast at HeffnerCare.com around 6 p.m. by searching Donald’s obituary.

Born on September 22, 1949 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Melvin and Eva (Sarakon) Moats. Donald was a self-employed car detailer and had a deep passion for restoring cars.

Mr. Moats was a kind and caring man who loved his dogs and had a special love for his daughter and grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Nancy, Donald is survived by his daughter, Sheri Moats of Dover; son, Donald Moats, Jr. and his wife, Ann of York; three grandchildren, Shy Moats and his girlfriend, Jaidyn “JJ” Champlain, Aaron Moats and Allison Moats; four brothers, Steve Moats and his wife, Claudia of York, Dave Moats of York, John Moats and his wife, Connie of York and Dan Moats; five sisters, Dorothy Carbaugh of York, Vickie Moats of Red Lion, Debbie Fogle of York, Missy Weiser of Dover and Donna Confair of South Carolina; and his loving Rottweilers, Chloe, Ava, Diva and the momentous late Taz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Moats, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Daniel Weiser.
