Donald E. Lawson, Sr.

YORK- Donald E. Lawson, Sr., 72 died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at York Hospital, following a lengthily illness. He was the husband of Margaret J. (Shultz) Lawson. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover. Mr. Lawson was born in Hanover on June 16, 1935, a son of the late Charles L. and Anna Blanche (Zuck) Lawson. He retired in 1996 from the former Continental Wire & Cable Co. and BICC in York. Mr. Lawson was a member of Gettysburg Moose Lodge and Hanover AmVets, Post 22. He served in the US National Guard. Mr. Lawson leaves a son, Donald E. Lawson, Jr. and his wife Terri of Winter Haven, FL, a daughter, Donna Poirier and her husband John of Easley, SC, three granddaughters, 13 step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, a brother, James Lawson and his wife Florence of Florida, a sister, Rosella Kimes and her husband Robert of Spring Grove, and six stepchildren: Robert Hall, Charles Hall, Diane Lankford, Cheryl Defay, Vickie Toomey, and Clayton Smith. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Lawson, two sisters: Marjorie Lawson and June Zumbrum, and two brothers: Charles Lawson and Arley Lawson. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA.
