YORK- A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, Don Meluzio or "Pop" as he was known by his grand kids, 77, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Don was born August 29th, 1948 in Darby, Pennsylvania a son of the late Carmen and Lois (Morton) Meluzio, and resided in York, for the past 46 years. He graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1966 and received an associate’s degree from Brandywine Junior College.
Don was owner and operator of York Kia/York Chrysler Plymouth and York Mitsubishi from 1980 to 2025. First and foremost, he was a loving husband, a wonder father, and a proud grandfather. His proudest achievements in life were his marriage to his loving wife, raising his children, and spending time with all of his grandchildren.
Don was a sergeant in the 36th Infantry 3rd Armored Division of the United States Army where he was trained as an M41 Redeye gunner. He was stationed in Germany with his wife Diane in the late 1960's. It was there that he served in the military creating the many memories he loved to share with friends. He also developed a love for European automobiles while there and that love continued when he returned home translating into many car adventures during his life. A long time York native, he was also a proud Philadelphian earlier in his life. He spent the beginning of his hockey fandom supporting the Philadelphia Flyers and then for the last 45 years he has consistently attended Hershey Bears games. A regular participant and attendee of all sorts of car shows and auto races, he loved sharing his passion of cars with anyone and everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane of York; daughter Krista and husband Mark of York; son Derek and wife Laurie of York; grandchildren Hannah, Leah, MaKenna, Justin, Amber, and Braden; and sister Debbie of West Chester.
A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Ln., York, PA 17404 with Pastor Karen Durbin officiating. A visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is honored to serve the family.
