Deborah C. Berger

Deborah C. (Sweigart) Berger, 72, passed away on August 9, 2026 at her residence. She was the wife of Gary V. Berger with whom she was married to for 45 years. The couple wed on February 14, 1981.

Born December 1, 1953 in York, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Faith M. (York) Sweigart. After graduating high school, she went on to attend Adams College before enlisting in the Air Force. She was an active military wife for 20 years and was a part of the Officer’s Wives Club. After her service in the Air Force, she began working in banking and later book keeping. Prior to her retirement she worked in retail at Walmart for 18 years. She was very supportive and loving of her family. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and crafts, everything purple, traveling, listening to books, and genealogy.

In addition to her husband, Gary, she is survived by a son, Ben Berger and his wife, Kellie of York; a daughter Andrea Biehl and her husband, Matt of York; six grandchildren, Logan and his wife Chloe, Collin, Lexi, Allie, Zack, and TJ; two brothers Ken Sweigart and his wife, Janet of York, and Dave Sweigart and his wife, Donna of Massachusetts; a sister, Vivian Kucinski and her husband, Roman of Massachusetts; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is honored to serve the family.
