YORK- Dean W. Jerome, 78, of York Township passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband and best friend of Lynn M. (Dohner) Jerome. The two met through in the Big Brother, Big Sister program in 1976. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on November 10, 2025.

Along with his wife, Dean leaves a son, Brian M. Jerome; two brothers, James Jerome and Jeffrey Jerome, a sister, Denise Nagle, a loving stepmother, Gail Jerome, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Jerome-Holmes, his father, Joseph Jerome, and his brother, Gary Jerome.

Dean was born in New York City, NY on April 10, 1948, the son of Joseph Jerome and Elsie Jerome-Holmes. He was a 1965 graduate of Ramapo High School in Wyckoff, NJ. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from University of Tulsa in 1969. He was a member of ATO Fraternity at University of Tulsa and later became the advisor to the fraternity at Gettysburg College. He retired from ExxonMobil after 39 years of service at age 60, where he was a territorial manager. He also was the creator and operator of his own travel agency, Creative Travel.

Dean was an active member of Aldersgate Church in York. He was an avid bridge player, a passionate New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed traveling the world and spending time at his condo in Ocean City, MD. He organized a yearly trip to Jamaica for hundreds of people for over 50 years. Most of all, Dean found much happiness when he could help others enjoy life.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Aldersgate Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd., in York, with a reception from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Reverend Dr. Robert Kaylor will be officiating at the service. Gathering and time of fellowship with the family will follow the service in the church social hall.
