RED LION - David D. Poff, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. He was the loving husband of Carolyn R. (Zarfos) Poff. The couple shared 66 years of marriage in July of 2025.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial at Canadochly cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements
Born May 9, 1937 in Hellam, he was the son of the late Richard and Margaret (Dietz) Poff. David was a self-employed welder who often subcontracted for Columbia Gas and Stewart and Tate. Mr. Poff served in the Navy where he was a pipe fitter. He served on the USS Fort Mandan and Monticello. David was a volunteer at York Hospital for over 10 years where he helped transport patients to appointments. In his free time, Mr. Poff enjoyed camping, traveling to Gatlinburg and Branson Missouri, and attending navy reunions. He was a member of the former Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church for many years.
Along with his wife, Carolyn, David leaves a daughter, Bonnie Stine and her husband John of Spring Grove; three grandchildren, Zachary Poff, Justin Stine, and Jordan Stine; sister, Susan Seitz; and daughter-in-law Dawn Poff of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clair Poff; son Michael Poff; and grandchildren Ryan Poff and Stephanie Poff.
