David Eugene Staley

David Eugene Staley, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maureen A. (Althoff) Staley to whom he was married for 63 years.

Born on November 21, 1936 in York, he was a son of the late Clyde E. Staley Jr. and Myrtle I. (Troup) Staley and attended West York schools. David worked for Edgcomb Steel until his retirement, and then at Sheetz on Memory Lane. He attended Thrive Church for Sunday Service. David was a life member of the Hawk Gunning Club. He enjoyed sports of all kinds.

David is survived by a daughter, Christine A. Hanes; two sons, Lindsey J. Staley and wife, Carol and James D. Staley and significant other, Melody Zutell; five grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lee A. Hanes; two grandchildren, Matthew L. Hanes and Alysia (Hanes) Harpster; a sister, Janet Robidoux, and a brother, Clyde Staley III.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Thrive Church, 661 N Newberry Street, York, PA 17404. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM at the Church. Officiating will be Pastor Dustin Godshall. Private burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. is honored to serve the family.
