Daune L. (Shoff) Sitler

CRALEY- Daune L. (Shoff) Sitler, 87, died on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Country Meadows of York South. She was the wife of the late Barry C. Sitler who died on January 14, 2022. The couple had been married for 61 wonderful years.

Born on November 12, 1938 in Yoe, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Maggie (Blessing) Shoff. Daune was a registered nurse for WellSpan York Hospital, spent most of her career at Susquehanna Medical Center and finally at the Brunswick at Longstown until retiring. She also formed Barry’s Country Food Market with her husband in 1989 where she was very involved in the day-to-day operations.

Daune was a member of Waters Edge United Methodist Church in Craley. She was a perfectionist with everything, loved cardinals and most importantly loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Sitler is survived by her son, Wade Sitler and his wife, Catherine of Wrightsville; daughter, Valerie Smeltzer and her husband, Henry (Hank) of Craley; five grandchildren, Luke Smeltzer and his wife, Lauren, Mason Smeltzer and his companion, Emma, Barry “Jake” Sitler and his wife, Jamie, Erika Lyter and her husband, Michael and Rebecca Straube and her husband, Lee; and eight great grandchildren, Levi Smeltzer, Fletcher Sitler, Mackenzie Lyter, Sophie Lyter, Wilder Sitler, Leo Straube, Olivia Straube and Lucie Lyter. She was preceded in death by her sister, Flo Schonig and brother, Dale Shoff.

Services for Mrs. Sitler are private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is honored to serve the family.
