Darryl L. Smuck

Darryl L. Smuck, 82, of Red Lion, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of Janet D. (Runkle) Smuck with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with his nephews, Pastors Dwayne and Bradley Runkle officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Born March 10, 1943 in Red Lion, a son of the late Lee and Edna (Keener) Smuck, Darryl was a 1961 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. He retired from Osram Sylvania in 2000 after 38 years as a tool and die developer. Mr. Smuck enjoyed boating, home improvement projects, and spending time in the mountains of Perry County. From childhood, Darryl loved being around and caring for animals, from horses to his beloved dog “Duke”. He also was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where he served on their Property Committee.

In addition to his wife Janet, Mr. Smuck is survived by his daughter, Kellie J. Shubert and husband Donald of Hanover; a son, Darryl L. Smuck, II and wife Michelle of Dallastown; two granddaughters, Karlee and husband Derek Coleman, Hollie and husband Ryan Loucks; four step grandchildren, Ellie, Nathan, Wesley, and Chloe Winslow; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Smuck and Shirley Sinclair.
