YORK- Darlene E. (Reiss) Kling, 78, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Truman “Chuck” Kling, Jr. with whom she shared 22 years of marriage filled with travel, watching Duke basketball and a love of the outdoors.
Born January 14, 1947 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Selma (Zarkin) Reiss. She was a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where she studied for her undergrad and then went on to receive her Master’s degree from Penn State University. Darlene worked as a teacher at William Penn High School for 20 plus years up until her retirement. She was a member of the Garden Club of York, the National Audubon Society, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her book club, playing Mahjong with friends and was the president of the Zoe Haines Volleyball Fan Club. Darlene was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and any team playing the Ravens, sorry Sam.
Darlene is survived by her son Todd Zuckerman and wife Julie Styskin of Hershey; daughter Mindi and husband Matt Haines of York; four grandchildren she loved dearly, Marc and Sam Zuckerman, and Caden and Zoe Haines; a brother David Reiss and wife Sharon; and niece and nephew, Seth Reiss and Rachael Gamble. Darlene loved her furballs and also leaves behind her final rescue, Casey.

A Celebration of Life will be announced by the Family at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, PA 17408 is in charge of arrangements.
