Danilo U. Escaro, Md

Danilo U. Escaro, MD, 83, passed away on Friday, May 17th 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Margaret K. (Kent) Escaro. The couple wed on October 1, 1966.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on June 3, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A service and lunch will follow.

Born on December 31, 1940 in San Pablo, Philippines, he was the son of the late Fermin and Consolacion (Umali) Escaro. Danilo graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in 1963 and immigrated to the US the following year – becoming a citizen in 1974. He settled in Somerset, NJ where he met his wife. They then moved to York where he was a Pathologist for WellSpan York Hospital from 1968 through his retirement in 2006.

Dr. Escaro was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and loved music, especially playing the classical guitar. He was a member of the Outdoor Country Club from 1972-2022.

Along with his wife, Margaret, Danilo is survived by two sons, Daniel Escaro and his wife, Cathy, of St. Charles, IL and Shane Escaro and his wife, Rachel Gerrick, of Westerville, OH; daughter, Kirstie Amereihn and her husband, Jeff, of York; five grandchildren, Sarah Escaro, DVM, Claire Escaro, Daniel Escaro, Jr., Lily Escaro and August Amereihn; two brothers, Enrico Escaro and Angelo Escaro; and two sisters, Gloria Escaro and Alice DePerio. He was preceded in death by five siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amedisys Hospice Care, 984 Loucks Rd., Suite 1, York, PA 17404, who provided hospice care for Danilo in his last days.
