Crystal L. (Kreidler) Smith, 75, of York, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Country Meadows at Leader Heights. She was the wife of Stephen M. Smith to whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage on May 29, 2026.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Living Word Community Church Life Center, 2350 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion with Pastor Jeremy Shank officiating. A visitation will be held from 3-4:00 PM Thursday at the Church. A reception will immediately follow the service in Living Word's Common Grounds Cafe. Private burial will be in Yoe Union Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is honored to serve the family.
Crystal was born on May 10, 1951 in York, a daughter of the late Wayne and Ruth (Snyder) Kreidler. She was a 1969 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. Crystal began her human resources career with Audio Architects, later worked at River’s Truck Center, and retired in 2011 from Genie Electronics Co., Inc. after 18 years of service. Prior to her illness, she was proud to be an active volunteer with Friends of the York County History Center and attended Living Word Community Church.
Never one to sit still, Crystal didn’t shy away from an adventure. She loved being outdoors hiking, biking, cross country skiing, kayaking or traveling. During her winter vacations in Florida, she would attend tennis and golf tournaments and enjoyed birding while exploring nature preserves. When she visited Kiawah, SC, she enjoyed nothing more than exploring on her bike. She enjoyed visiting many countries in Europe with two of her favorites being a two week trip to Italy and sailing down the Rhine and Danube on a river boat.
In addition to her husband Steve, Crystal is survived by a daughter, April M. and husband Andrew O’Donnell of Wayne, PA; a son, Matthew S. Smith of York; three grandchildren, Jack O’Donnell, Liam O’Donnell and wife Yasmeen, and Oliver O’Donnell; a sister, Jill and husband Phil Dettinger of York; and a brother, Bradley and wife Jan Kreidler of Red Lion.
