Connie L. (Bumgarner) Schwartz

DOVER – Connie L. (Bumgarner) Schwartz, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital.

Born December 2, 1940, in Monument, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. Bumgarner and Mary T. (Martin) Clinton. For most of her working life, Connie was a self-employed babysitter, more often working at daycare centers as she got older. Outside of her hard work and in her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, diamond painting, but most of all, dedicating her life to her family and the local children in the community. She will be remembered by many as a step-in mother for school age children while working in the cafeteria at the local public school, assisting families in need, and making sure children did not go hungry and were well taken care of. Connie made an impact on many people throughout her years and has made many memories and funny stories with countless people throughout her life and with the Girl Scouts of USA. In her last years, she enjoyed her daily coffee and honey bun delivered to her by her grand-daughter and her husband, and great-grandchildren while reading devotionals sent to her by her cousin from Florida.

Surviving is her daughter, Christy; two granddaughters, Melissa and her husband Aaron and Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Austin, and Christopher; a brother, David and his wife Janice, two sisters Cindy and Deanna; a nephew, David; two nieces, Heather and Melissa Sue; a cousin, Kathleen “Pixie”, and a best friend, Susan. Connie went to Heaven to join her parents, and her stepfather, Bob.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
