EAST RENOVO - Charles "Alex" Rauch, age 63, died at Bucktail Medical Center emergency room on Thursday, July 15, 2010. He was born in Renovo on January 19, 1947, a son of the late August and Margaret (Dreyer) Rauch. Alex was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a graduate of Renovo High School, and was a retired machinist from International Paper Co. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Club, former member of the Western Clinton County Recreation Center Board, former Renovo Boro Council member, Renovo C.T.A. member, former fire warden for the Bureau of Forestry, and was a former Board member and present member of the Patient Safety Committee at Bucktail Medical Center. He also served his country in the National Guard for several years. Alex's community dedication was best expressed in his involvement with the Renovo Rotary Club and the Flaming Foliage Festival Committee. He served as a member and past President for several terms of the Renovo Rotary Club. He also served as the District Governor for District #7370 of the Rotary International. He was an advisor for the Rotary Interact Club at Bucktail High School. Alex was a member of the Flaming Foliage Festival Committee for over 25 years, serving as chairperson, or co-chairperson, for over 15 years. Alex also served as a funeral director's assistant at the Maxwell Funeral Home for the past 11 years. Even with all of his community involvement, he still took time to ride in his convertible, and to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On December 30, 1967, in Renovo, Alex married the former Patricia O'Toole who survives. Also surviving are his sons: Alex (Angela) Rauch of North Bend and Kevin (Barb) Rauch of Renovo, daughter: Maria Gentzyel of Renovo, grandchildren: Nick, Alyssa Rauch, Trish, Piper, Lorin, Allyssa, Ally, Zach, and Bryce. Also his sisters: Beverly (Ray) Hess of Oval, Mary Hansen of Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, with Fr. Donald E. Boslett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner with military services being held at the graveside. Friends will be received at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials are requested to the Flaming Foliage Visitors Center Operations Fund. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
