Charles R. 'Dick' Kurtz

YORK- Charles R. “Dick” Kurtz, 83, died on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty M. (Kauffman) Kurtz. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Freysville. Born on January 3, 1932 in Dallastown, he was a son of the late William and Gladys (Eberley) Randall. Dick worked maintenance for York Hospital until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Kurtz was a member of the Red Lion VFW Post #1446, Red Lion AC Club, where he was a bartender part time and was a member of the Mason Lodge #187 in Aberdeen, MD. Mr. Kurtz is survived by one daughter, Cynthia A. Fortney and her husband, Greg of Felton; two sons, Barry L. Flaharty and his wife, Kim of York and Jeff L. Kurtz and his wife, Jane of Boyertown; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Jones of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Lookingbill.
