Pottsville- Charles J. Hornung, 102, resident of Westminster Village, Allentown, formerly of East Arch Street, Pottsville, passed away Monday morning at the Village. Born in Pottsville on May 26, 1909, he was a son of the late Joseph and Clara Hummel. Charles graduated from Pottsville High School. He was the owner of the former Pottsville Cab Company until he retired. He was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. He was a lifetime member of Phoenix Hose Co., Pottsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 9 siblings. Charles is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mildred G. Wasolowski Hornung, of Westminster Village, Allentown; his daughter, Gerladine Panick, wife of Andrew “Bud”, of Hellertown, PA; his 4 Grandchildren, Theresa Williams, Christine Schoenberger, Glenn Panick and Michael Panick, Sr.; his 8 Great Grandchildren, Corinne Marsh, Brian and Casey Williams, Michael, Jr., Amanda , Jessie and Nicholas Panick; his two great great grandchildren; Yvonne and Teague Marsh; several nieces nad nephews. Interment services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Calvary Chapel, Hillside, Pottsville. Deacon Jack Quirk will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Saint Patrick’s Church, 319 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901. Online condolences may be sent to bestlifetributes.com.
