Charles C. Holman, 92, of York, PA passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at York Hospital.
He was born on December 20,1933 in Catonsville, MD, a son of the late George and Jean Currens Holman. Charlie, as he was most often known, served in the US Army for two years from 1954 -1956, based at Ft. Jackson, SC where he was a member of the 506th Rifle Team. After his service in the Army, he then went on to graduate in 1958 with his bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Baltimore. His career focused on lending to residential builders and developers at The Rouse Company, Union Trust Bank, Fairview Federal Savings & Loan and The Columbia Bank. He retired from The Columbia Bank as Executive Vice President in 1998 and continued as a board member until 2006.
A gifted athlete with a passion for lacrosse, basketball and soccer, he later gave back to the sport he loved by coaching lacrosse and inspiring young players. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He took up biking and reading during his retirement.
Charlie was survived by his wife Elizabeth (Liz) M. Wright of 43 years, in addition to his four daughters from his first marriage, whom he raised on his own with complete dedication: Holly and husband Richard Schmidt of Perry Hall, MD, Judith Holman of Paso Robles, CA, Jill and husband Perry Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Heather and husband Thomas Wuelpern of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren: Jennifer Sniadach, Matthew Schmidt, Amanda Canfield, Zane Smith, Annika Wuelpern and Tessa Wuelpern; five great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, friends and their Labrador mix Pippa. He is preceded in death by his brother, George Holman, Jr.; and two sisters, Jean Boettinger and Margaret Hall.
A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at 11 AM on March 28, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver Street, York, PA with Father Eric Hillegas officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc.,1551 Kenneth Road, York is honored to serve the family.
