Charles E. “Skip” Andersen, 84, of York, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at his home. He was the husband of Carol H. (Hutmaker) Andersen with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage on February 20th.

Skip was born on August 24, 1941 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Edward A. and Mary E. (Masemore) Andersen. He was a 1959 graduate of Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School and a 1964 graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. As part of Skip’s schooling at Drexel during his co-op program, he met Carol while both were employed at Philadelphia Electric Company. They fell in love and the rest, as they say, is history. Skip served as an Engineer at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station for 27 years until his retirement in 1993. Skip was known to be very handy and could fix nearly anything presented to him. He also enjoyed spending his time building and operating model railroads.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Andersen is survived by two sons, Edward C. and wife Sara Andersen of Stewartstown and Stephen M. and wife Jennifer Andersen of Gallatin, TN; four grandchildren, Jude, Kyle, Mason, and Maxwell Andersen; a sister, Margaret A. Shell of Media, PA; his sister-in-law, Andrea Gallagher of Hatfield, PA; and brother-in-law, Aaron and wife Pamela Hutmaker of Williamstown, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kathy Hutmaker, and two brothers-in-law, Michael Shell and Robert Gallagher.

Tribute services and entombment will be held privately at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is honored to serve the family.

The family wishes to extend a grateful Thank You to the nurses and staff of Home Instead – York and Amedysis Hospice; their special friends Lynn and Deb, Marnette and Mike, and all the neighbors for their love and care during Skip’s illness.
