Catherine A. (Peters) Derr

Catherine A. (Peters) Derr, 84, of Milton passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was born on December 29, 1932 on the family farm in Union County and was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Ruth E. (Hassinger) Peters. Catherine was married to the late William L. Derr in 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sunbury and they celebrated 22 years of marriage together until his death on June 5, 1976. She was a graduate of Sunbury High School, Class of 1950. She went on to work for Westinghouse, Sunbury, Chef Boyardee, Milton and Penn Cheese, Winfield. Catherine was also a nanny. Catherine was a member of a card club where she became close friends with many friends over the years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Catherine is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Gil W. and Karen L. Derr of Selinsgrove, three grandchildren; Rex and Emily Derr of Selinsgrove, Travis and Robin Derr of Port Trevorton and Dustin Mark of Pensacola, Florida, seven great grandchildren; Kelsey, Mason, Bella, Leah, Bradley, Bentley and Trevor, one sister and brother-in-law; Shirley and Thomas Reed of Selinsgrove and her companion of over 40 years; Truman Troutman of Millersburg along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by one daughter; Lucinda Mark and four brothers; Charles, Herald, Archie and Marlin Peters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave, Williamsport, PA 17701 or at americanheart.org A public viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
