Carole E. Smith

YORK HAVEN – Carole E. (Laird) Smith, 81, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at Yorkview Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late James R. Smith.

Born November 18, 1941 in Lewisberry; a daughter of the late Carl R. and Elizabeth Mae (Baker) Laird, she was a 1959 graduate of Northern High School. Mrs. Smith retired from Messiah Retirement Community where her work was dedicated to helping people pass from this world with dignity. She believed that if you help others when you can, you will be taken care of yourself. Carole learned to play the piano at the age of 5 and dedicated her life to playing the piano so others could enjoy the music. She was a member of Pinchot Park Assembly of God. Carole believed in one God and the Love of Jesus Christ. All within her reach were blessed.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Cathy J. (Brown) Stern and her companion Russell Mansberger of York Haven; a son, Ricky J. Brown of York Haven; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her aunt “Duckie” of York; cousins; and Bobbi Brown of Red Lion who she loved like a daughter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael R. Brown and Joey C. Brown.
