Carol Ann (Beard) Emswiler, 63, of York, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2026 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Christopher M. Emswiler to whom she was married for 32 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date to be determined. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is honored to serve the family.

Born June 8, 1963 in York, she was born to Phyllis (Bowers) Kessler and Raymond Beard and was raised by her stepfather, the late Jeffrey Kessler, whom she always considered her father.

Carol worked as an Inspector at Olin/Flinchbaugh for many years. She later worked as Head Cashier at Central York High School for many years and previously owned and operated The UPS Store on Eastern Boulevard in East York. Through her various roles, she enjoyed serving others and building lasting relationships within her community.

Carol found happiness in the things that mattered most: traveling with her family, visiting the Disney parks in Florida, spending time at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, and making memories with those she loved. She enjoyed scrapbooking and capturing the moments she never wanted to forget. Throughout a 15-year battle with cancer and 13 diagnoses, Carol demonstrated a strength and positivity that never wavered. She faced each obstacle with determination, never wanting to back down or give up. She was surrounded by an incredible support system of family and friends and was immensely thankful for the many doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who cared for her throughout her journey. Despite all she endured, Carol never lost her appreciation for life, finding gratitude and happiness even in its smallest moments.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Emswiler is survived by two sons, Ryan E. Beard and his wife, Eve Parrot of Raleigh, NC, and Christopher M. Emswiler Jr. and his wife, Madison of York; one granddaughter, Luna E. Beard; two brothers, Randall “Randy” Beard of York and Kevin Kessler and his wife, Heidi of Boiling Springs; and three step-siblings, Melinda Dillon, Beth Hoskin and William Price, and three half-siblings on her biological paternal side. She was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney “Ricky” Beard and two stepbrothers, Robert Hilbert Jr. and Glenn Hilbert.
