YORK – Carl Zinn Smyser, 97, of West Manchester Township, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Delores I. (Moul) Smyser, to whom he was married to for 71 years upon her passing.
A celebration of life memorial service will be at 11:00AM on March 27, 2023 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10:00-11:00AM. The Reverend Paul W. Gausmann and The Reverend Sally A. Gausmann will be officiating the service. Burial will be in St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Born September 11, 1925 in Dover Township, he was a son of the late Erwin A. and Anna J. (Zinn) Smyser.
After graduating in 1943 from West York High School, Mr. Smyser served his country during WWII as an Aviation Cadet in the US Army Air Corps. After the military, Carl went on to work with the Wolf Organization as a vice president, retiring in 1989 after 41 years. He was also a life-long member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in York.
Mr. Smyser is survived by his son Lawrence Smyser and his wife, Lori of York, as well as two daughters Lynette Baker and her husband, William of Spring Grove and Lucinda Roth and her husband, Gerald of York; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Runyan, two sisters, and four brothers.
