LEWISBERRY-Carl C. Haas, 83, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Memorial Hospital. A celebration of life memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc, 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry with Rev. Dr. S. Ronald Parks officiating, and a flag folding ceremony provided for by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will take place at a later date. Mr. Haas was born May 15, 1926 in Helfenstein, PA, a son of the late Fred H. and Leona E. (Minnich) Haas. He was a former employee of Cole Litton Business Furniture for over 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Haas was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country during WWII. He was extremely proud of completing five years of European Command Exchange System in Germany following his military career. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post #791. Mr. Haas is survived by a son, Christian C. Haas of Harrisburg; a daughter, Barbara A. Urich and husband, Robert E. of Lewisberry; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Weikel of Upper Strasburg, PA; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Claus "Bud" Dieter Haas; a great granddaughter, Eden Elsbeth; and two brothers, Dwight and Mahlon Haas. Memorial contributions may be made to any local Salvation Army.
