Burnell L. Smith

Wrightsville – Burnell Lemar Smith, 86, passed away on September 1, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Charlotte L. (Gainer) Smith to whom he was married for 64 years.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held 10AM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Chaplain Bryce Stone officiating, burial will follow at Springville Cemetery. Viewings will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM prior to the service.

Born September 26, 1936 in Wrightsville, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Earl W. and Eliza (Ruby) Smith. Mr. Smith worked as a welder for Carew Steel, Precision Components, and later Bradley Lift where he retired. In his free time, he could be found going to stock car races, spending time at his cabin in Bedford Co., or going on car rides with his beloved dog, Rosie, he especially loved going for ice cream.

Mr. Smith Leaves behind a son, Bryan Smith and his wife Sandy of Wrightsville; a daughter, Michele Sechrist of Windsor; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Smith and his wife Jean of Wrightsville; and last but not least, his cat Bandit and his Beloved dog Rosie. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by a son, Burnell Smith, Jr.; and a sister, Sally Reachard.
