RED LION – Bradley W. “Brad” Thomas, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Katherine M. (Brown) Thomas to whom he was married for 60 years.
Born January 22, 1944 in Greensburg, he was a son of the late William Homer Thomas and Mary Margret (Drescher) Thomas.
Growing up, Mr. Thomas was a very proud resident of the old Relay area between Red Lion and Dallastown. Brad was a Dallastown High School graduate of class 1962. After high school, he entered the Coast Guard in 1963, serving our country for four years on the USCGC Linden, further being nominated for Coast Guardsman of the Year in 1966. Following his military service, he started his 34-year career at MetEd until he retired.
Mr. Thomas was a huge car enthusiast who was so proud of his 1935 Ford Coupe. He loved to travel and cruise around and also enjoyed listening (and singing along to) all music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is remembered as a hard worker and a great family man.
Brad is survived by his loving wife Katherine M. (Brown) Thomas; two sons Scot Thomas and his wife Barb and Lance Thomas and his wife Katie; three grandchildren Derek Thomas and his wife Krista, Aaron Blair and his wife Megan and Olivia Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Luke, Emma, Brinlee, Colin, Nora and Ruth Jean; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a grandson Brad Thomas and a sister Peggy Thomas.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, is helping the family with arrangements.
