Bonita L. “Bonnie” Julius, of York, was called to Heaven and gained her angel wings on June 12, 2025; once again reunited with her loving daughter, Crickett. Bonnie was born in York, PA, September 16, 1944, to the late Philip K. and Mary T. Trone, and was the wife of the late Thomas W. Julius.
Bonnie is survived by a much-loved son, William W. Julius II, who took great care of her during her twilight years. She was proceeded in death by her most beloved daughter, Crickett J. Julius in 2006. Surviving her are three greatly loved grandchildren, Meghan, Jeremey and Bradley.
She is also survived by a brother, William R. Trone, Manchester, PA; preceded in death by her sister, Marian M. Trone in 2007. Also survived by Sisters-in-law Brenda K. Trone and Joyce E. Glatfelter, plus a number of nieces, cousins and other family members.
Bonnie graduated from West York High School in 1962, after which she began working for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. in the Personnel Division, which launched her career in the Human Resources field. During her tenure with the Department of Labor, she also attended George Washington University night school, studying Psychology. After many years in the Human Resources field both in Washington, D.C. and York, PA, she retired late in 2009 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the York County Judicial Center, where she was the Deputy District Court Administrator of Human Resources and Budgets for the York County Court System. She was a 12-year member of the Society of Human Resource Management. And a 10-year member of the PA Association of Court Management.
After her daughter’s death in 2006, she and her niece, Carole, co-founded a non-profit, Crickett’s Answer for Cancer, which catered to women nationwide undergoing the dreaded disease of breast cancer. Bonita spent many hours working with these patients (both during and after her full-time career), providing nearly 2000 women with items they needed but could not afford. She received various awards for her service to women, including the “Service to Mankind Award” from Springettsbury Sertoma and a range of commendations from magazines and newspapers.
Bonnie was a longtime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York, where a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the Church. Private burial will be in the family plot at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
