YORK – Betty M. (Robinson) Tome, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023. She was married to her first love, the late Wilson M. Tome for almost 60 years.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 11, 2023 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2650 Freysville Road, Red Lion with her Pastor, The Rev. Paul N. Frank officiating. Viewings will be held from 5-7:00 PM Sunday, September 10th at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at the Church. Private burial will be in Bethel UM Cemetery.
Born April 2, 1935 in Lucky, York Co., a daughter of the late Earl and Nellie (Kilgore) Robinson, she attended Red Lion Area High School. Mrs. Tome was a homemaker until her children were older and then worked at Safeway for many years. Later, she was Asst. Activities Director at Dallastown Nursing Center where her mother-in-law resided. Betty was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Freysville and spent over 50 years singing in the choir. She truly enjoyed singing, reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Betty lived a life of service to others. She provided love, compassion, understanding, and support to not only her family, but anyone who was in need. Her example will live on through everyone who was fortunate enough to have her presence in their life.
Mrs. Tome is survived by two daughters, Kathleen and husband Lynn Conrad of Red Lion and Melody and husband Bill Grove of Airville; two sons, Wilson “Chuck” Tome, Jr. and wife Kathie of York and Timothy Tome and wife Marcie of York; four grandchildren, Kristen and husband Robert Whiteford, Jr., Lauren Conrad and husband Vic Crosier, Rachel Grove-Rohrbaugh and husband Max Rohrbaugh, and Eleanor Silk; six great grandchildren, Henry, Eve, PJ, Iris, Ruth, and Isaac; a brother-in-law, Carl and wife Betty Tome of Red Lion; and a godson, Paul Tompkins of Red Lion. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Ellis.
