Betty M. (Fritz) Kile

Betty M. Kile, 102, entered into Eternal Rest on August 16, 2023 at the residence that she shared for 20 years with her son, Scot and his partner Brian Martini.

Betty Martha, the 8th of 10 children (5 boys and 5 girls as she often said) was born to Bruce and Irma (Cole) Fritz on September 13, 1920 at Maple Lawn dairy farm in Columbia County, PA. Betty often shared fond memories of her family and of growing up in Benton. This homestead was forever known to her as “up home”. Betty’s lifelong interest in sports, playing the piano/organ and singing/yodeling began at a young age.

After graduating from Benton High School, Betty married Wayne W. Kile. Betty and Wayne relocated to York where they raised their 5 children. They were active congregants of Calvary (Grace) United Methodist Church. They kept strong extended family ties and had many friends. Betty and Wayne were active members of the Conservation Society of York County. They enjoyed years of dancing with the White Rose Square Dance Club.

Betty was a devoted and doting mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was also a favorite aunt. She was an expert in every aspect of making a home – cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, caring for and entertaining both the young and the elderly. She was a natural storyteller and when the story was a humorous one she would often break into laughter while telling it. Family Gatherings were her favorite events. She was fashionable and always had perfectly coiffed hair. In her later years, she was an Orioles fan, an avid follower of the news and continued as a faithful voter. She was strong, had dignity, ‘would give it a go’. She was the glue of our family.

Betty was predeceased by Wayne (2002) her loving husband of 62 years, her daughter Connie Moody (2016) and all of her siblings.

Betty’s memory will be kept alive by her beloved family.

Her children – Bonita (Larry) Wilt, Bruce (Marcia) Kile, Debbie (Terry) Sentz, Scot (Brian Martini) Kile.

Her grandchildren – Robyn Levalley, Bradley (Tammy) Wilt, Stephen Wilt, Hayley (Jennifer Horovitz) Kile, Benjamin Sentz, Rachel Sentz.

Her great-grandchildren – Shanon (J.T. Fitzgerald) Wilt, Breanna (Dan) Blevens, Adam (Brandy) Wilt.

Her great-great-grandchildren – Jordyn Kahler, Connor Shaeffer.

Thank You to Scot and Brian for 20 years of exceptional devotion to caring for Betty.

And Thank You to her friends who provided services, support and companionship in her later years.

You know who you are.
