Benjamin E. Newton, Jr.

DOVER - Benjamin E. Newton, Jr., 93, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Providence Place Senior Living of Dover.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be announced in the upcoming days. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born September 9, 1932, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Benjamin E. Newton, Sr. and Margaret (Pidgin) Newton. After graduating from high school, Mr. Newton proudly served his country in the United States Army and later in the United States Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Teachers College of Connecticut and a master’s degree from George Mason University.

He spent the majority of his professional career as an elementary school teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools, where he later retired. Outside of his career, he was an active member of Gettysburg Church of Christ, the Marine Corps League, the 4th BnRA Royal Artillery, and the National Rifle Association. Benjamin was also an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Above all, his greatest passion was his involvement with a French and Indian War reenactment group, through which he proudly honored history.
