Barry M. Beakler

YORK – Barry M. Beakler, 87, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Providence Place Senior Living of Dover. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Smith) Beakler to whom he was married for 63 years before her passing in 2020.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 N. Sherman St Ext., Mt Wolf, PA 17347, with Pastor Laura C. Baker officiating the service. There will be a visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Born August 24, 1938 in York, he was a son of the late Elmer W. and Dorothy (Spangler) Beakler. He was a proud graduate of Central York High School Class of 1956. Barry's careers included a baker, milkman, estimator for YEP before working and retiring from Northeastern Sewer Authority. He was a member of Starview United Church of Christ. He is remembered as an avid Penn State fan and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening. Barry is remembered in the community as an exceptional coach of baseball, basketball, and football, touching many lives.

Surviving are his two sons, Dane M. Beakler and his wife Carolyn of York and Daryl L. Beakler and his wife Dawn of Lebanon; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy W. Beakler and his wife Betsy; and a son-in-law, Michael W. Heindel. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy J. Heindel and a brother, Bobby Beakler.
