SANTEE, SC- Arthur Ayres Haines, Jr., 86 died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Dorothy (Johnson) Haines. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Everhart-Jackson-Heffner Funeral Home, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with Masonic Rites by Zeredatha Lodge. A visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. Mr. Haines was born in Philadelphia on December 30, 1921, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ayres Haines, and was reared by his father an Elizabeth Stutterheim Haines. He retired after 27 years of service as a printing salesperson for the former W.B. Killhour Paper Company-York Division and later for Butler Paper in Harrisburg. Mr. Haines was a member of Zeredatha F&AM #451, Past President of York Club of Printers House Craftsmen, was a former member of both: York Archery Club and White Rose Square Dancers and was a member of the Santee Cooper Men's Golf Association and was a Presbyterian. He was a US Army veteran who served in WWII. Along with his wife, Mr. Haines leaves, a son John H. Stocker of Old Bridge, NJ; a daughter, Dorothy Ann Thompson and her husband, Robert of Millersville; a great granddaughter Kearston L. Heilman of York; two sisters: Bette Hoover and her husband Robert of Tamarac; FL and Clair Marks of Jackson Springs, NC. His mother and a grandson, Marc Stocker, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
