Anna Elizabeth Baer

MANCHESTER- Anna Elizabeth (Lehigh) Hoover Baer, 95, who was a resident at Providence Place in Dover passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late George M. Baer.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Friendship Community Church, 3380 Fox Run Rd. in Dover, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Logan Ames will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Baer was born in Spry on September 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Clarence F. S. and Mary A. (Heiland) Lehigh. She worked for the former Katharine Beecher Candy Factory in Manchester and as an administrative assistant for Planned Parenthood in York.

Mrs. Baer was a member of Friendship Community Church in Dover. She was a 1946 graduate of North York High School, where she played on their basketball and volleyball teams. She remained active with volleyball in her golden years, playing on the PA Senior Women’s Volleyball Team, until she was 79. She was a member of Ballroom Dance Club, Manor Social Club, Military Order of the Purple Heart ladies auxiliary, NorthEastern Senior Center and AARP Golf group at Briarwood Golf Course. She volunteered for the American Lung Association. She enjoyed spending time with family at gatherings and having meals together. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.

Mrs. Baer leaves two sons, Kenneth Hoover, Jr. and his wife Norma and Richard Hoover and his wife Joelen; two daughters, Marcia Dellinger and her husband Gary and Kathy Hickman and her husband George; four step children, Michael, John, and Edward Baer and Amanda Eckerfield; eleven grandchildren, Lynn Hoover, Alexis Jones, Kelly Altland, Kristie Kemper, Tammy Stauffer, Michael Baer, Jr., Seneca James, Megan James,Elise Baer, Emily Baer, Gracie Baer, and seven other extended grandchildren. She also leaves numerous great grandchildren, several great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth R. Hoover, Sr. and five brothers, Walter, David, Harry, Calvin, and Edward Lehigh.
