WILKES-BARRE-Alfonza "Al" Stewart, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday evening. Born on July 22, 1922 in Hickory, VA, he was a son of the late Silas and Mary Wilson Stewart. Mr. Stewart was formerly employed as a parts man for Lenny's Scrap Yard, Edwardsville. He was also self-employed doing auto repairs in North Carolina and Wilkes-Barre. His favorite hobbies were fishing and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his son, Earl Stewart; daughter, Elton Williams; sisters Sarah, Annie and Ginger; brothers Jake and Earl. Surviving is his companion of 25 years, Cecelia Phoenix; sons Lorenzo Stewart, Allentown and Allen Stewart and wife, Patrice, Elizabeth City, NC; daughters Mary White and husband, Wayman, Elizabeth City, NC: Lorraine Spence, Elizabeth City, NC; Kathleen Stewart, Chesapeake, VA; Esther Anderson and husband, Anthony, Elizabeth City, NC; 14 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Michael Brewster officiating.
