FORTY FORT-Alexander B. "Sonny" Skirmont, 68, of Forty Fort, passed away Wednesday morning in Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Nanticoke on September 18, 1939, he was a son of the late Anthony and Angeline (Falasa) Skirmont. Alex was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, Bridgeport, CT and attended New Haven Culinary School, New Haven, CT. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church, Wilkes-Barre. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, where he was a catering liaison. He was a former member of the Ashley Volunteer Fire Department and a past Ashley Boro councilman. Alex began his chefing career at Dante's Restaurant in Connecticut. He also chefed at Perugino's Restaurant, Luzerne, Genetti's, Wilkes-Barre and Fireside Restaurant in Bear Creek. He owned Alori's Restaurant and Catering in Ashley; owned and operated Alexander's Buffet and Pierogies in the West Side Mall, Edwardsville. He was also associated with Bob Kosha at Newberry Estate, First Hospital and Heritage House. . Prior to his illness, he was a northeast regional salesman for Feeser's Food Distributors, Harrisburg. He is sadly missed by his wife, Annette Sklaney-Skirmont, to whom he was married on February 12, 1989. And also his children: son, Major Matthew Skirmont and wife, Debra, Honolulu, HI; daughters Suzanne Rackham and husband, Kelly, Lansford and Colleen Alesandra Skirmont, Kingston; grandchildren, Michael Skirmont, Christian Skirmont, Tyler Skirmont, Eryn Rackham, Trystan Rackham and Sean Skirmont; great- granddaughter, Caitlin Skirmont; stepsons Christopher L. Sklaney and wife, Valeria, Wyoming and Gregory R. Sklaney, Steamboat Springs, CO; brother Anthony Skirmont and wife, Cheryl, Stratford, CT; sisters Carol Duda, Pottsville and Lorraine Skirmont, Marco Island, FL. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be Pastor Sandy Piccione with the Reverend Chad Stoecker assisting. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church, 780 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
