YORK - Alberta (King) Simmons, 96, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Judge Simmons. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 474 South Pershing Avenue, York with her pastor, The Rev. Dr. Aaron Willford, Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-1:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, May 5, 2008 in Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery, Bainbridge, Georgia. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born March 19, 1912 in Climax, Georgia, a daughter of the late Emery and Mamie (James) King, she retired from Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey after 40 years of service. She was also employed as a caregiver for 15 years for the family of the Walter Bauman's Jewelry Store. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and an avid soap opera fan. Mrs. Simmons is survived by a son, Cicero and wife Eileen Stephens of Felton; four grandchildren, Mark of PA, Theresa and Rana both of NJ and Bernard Stephens & Wife, DeDe of FL; three step grandchildren, Robin and husband Danny Plessy, Marc and wife Marcia Hawkins all of MD, and Cherie and husband Cliff Fisher of GA; seven great grandchildren, Harold, Andre, LaKiesha all of NJ, Ashley and Brandi Stephens both of FL, Jasmin Williams of NJ, and Abdula Best of PA; and three great great grandchildren, Kevin Burton, Mekyla and Mekhi Britt all of NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sondra Stephens; and two brothers, Frank and Ernest King.
