RED LION - Adrian E. Spangler, 78, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the husband of the late Romaine E. [Kline] Spangler. Funeral services and burial will be private in Red Lion Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born July 25, 1929 in West York a son of the late Paul S. and Ethyl Mae [Bubb] Spangler, he was a 1947 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mr. Spangler retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1988 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church; Viking Athletic Assoc.; Victory Athletic Assoc.; Dallastown American Legion; was a member of the former Red Lion Country Club; and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and numerous friends. He was a veteran of US Army Engineering Corp during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Spangler is survived by a daughter, Jill D. and husband Roland Thompson of York; two sons, Jay D. and wife Jane Matthews and Jere D. Matthews both of York; six grandchildren; a great grandson; two sisters, Patricia L. and husband Phil Golden of Red Lion and Joyce E. and husband M. Lee Seitz of York; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
