YORK – Adonna J. (Filmore) Barshinger, 88, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 26, 2025, at Providence Place Senior Living of Dover. She was the wife of the late Martin L. Barshinger, Jr. to whom she was married for over 40 years before his passing in 2000.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408, with Rev. Amy Northridge officiating. There will be a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial services at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
Adonna was born September 1, 1937 in York, she was a daughter of the late George N. Sr. and Florence E. (Dietz) Filmore. For most of her working life, she was an assembly worker at Port-A-Crib/Child Master in Hellam, PA for many years and York Casket Company where she later retired from to be the caregiver to her late husband Martin. In her free time, she was a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. Adonna also enjoyed watching old shows on TV, especially The Beverly Hillbillies and The Carol Burnett Show and also Wheel of Fortune. Adonna also enjoyed going dancing with her late husband and spending time with close friends. She loved our trips to Ocean City, NJ and enjoying the beach. She enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, and especially at Hinkle’s restaurant in Columbia, PA. Adonna enjoyed drinking Taylor Port Wine and also took great pride in working in her yard and landscaping at her home but most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her three children, Kenneth E. Barshinger and his wife Debra, Brian N. Barshinger and his wife Jodi, and Lisa A. Wagman and her husband Mark all of York; six grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Nathaniel, Natalie, Kyle, and Morgan; and five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Braxton, Elianna, Karina, and Palmer. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, George Jr., Mary, and Nancy.
