YORK- Virginia I. (Graham) Markel, 96, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at The Brunswick at Longstown. She was the wife of the late Kenneth L. Markel who died on January 30, 2002. The couple had been married for 63 years. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, 2666 Furnace Rd., Felton, with the Reverend Barry E. Yingling officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on April 8, 1918 in Lower Windsor Twp., she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Erma (Thomas) Graham. Virginia was a homemaker. Mrs. Markel was a member of Ebenezer U.M. Church at Long Level. Virginia loved her church and loved to travel. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Markel is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Markel of Bradenton, FL and Sheldon R. Markel and his wife, Doris of York; one daughter, Mary Jane Russell of Palm Bay, FL; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Benjamin Graham, Jr. of Craley; two sisters, Romaine Wessner of Melbourne, FL and Pauline Markel of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry L. Markel; and seven brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
