Thomas I. Fitz

YORK- Thomas I. Fitz, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family singing hymns of praise to the Lord Jesus Christ His personal Savior on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Manor Care North. He was the husband of Ginny L. (Mummert) Fitz, to whom he was married for 39 years. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at York Alliance Church, 501 Rathton Rd., York, PA 17403 with the Reverend Timothy L. Shuey officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in New Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born on May 9, 1938 in York, he was a son of the late Isaac M. and Meda E. (Markey) Fitz. Thomas was a Postal Clerk for 40 years until his retirement in 2004. Mr. Fitz attended York Alliance Church for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Bear in Mind Camp in Potter County. Thomas enjoyed following church softball and York Twp. baseball leagues. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his wife, Ginny, Thomas is survived by three sons, Darryl Fitz and wife, Moon of Sugar Hill, GA, Brian Fitz and wife, Denise of York and Mark Fitz and wife, Martina of Cumming, GA; one daughter, Michelle Fitz of York; six grandchildren, Jared Fitz, Emma Fitz, Jacob Fitz, Justine Fitz, Amber Texter and Dylan Almony; one great grandson, Cruise Texter; and one brother, Jim Fitz of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold Fitz, Russell Fitz, Wayne Fitz and Dale Fitz.
