Sidney E. Hughes

Lewisberry—Sidney E. Hughes, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. He was the husband of the late Lois A. (Harkins) Hughes to whom he was married for 61 years. Born October 15, 1932 in Lewisberry, he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary (Bonner) Hughes. He had a 30 plus year career as a roofer, retiring in 1994 from Ewing Roofing. Mr. Hughes was a long time member of Lewisberry United Methodist Church and extremely devoted to his family. An avid Green Bay Packers and Penn State Football fan, he also enjoyed NASCAR. Mr. Hughes is survived by one daughter, Linda Kay Garner and her husband, Joseph of Lewisberry; three grandchildren, Joseph Garner, Jr., of New Cumberland, Tonya Daldo and husband, Richard of Etters and Heather Grove and husband, Joshua of Etters; five great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Makayla Daldo and Matthew, Jaxson and Hudson Grove; one brother, Bruce Hughes of Lewisberry; two sisters, Janice Shank of Wellsville and Gloria Miller of Carlisle and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Marjorie, Dorothy, Evelyn, Mary and Doris. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Lewisberry United Methodist Church, 309 Market Street, Lewisberry. Officiating the service will Pastor James Winter and Pastor Wayne Wheeler. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM, Tuesday at the church. Burial will be held in St. John’s Lewisberry Cemetery. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements.
