RED LION-Ruth K. (Saylor) Oberlander, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services-South. She was the loving wife of the late Arthur E. Oberlander who died April 15, 1983. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with her pastor the Rev. David Tietje officiating. A viewing will be held 9-10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Red Lion Cemetery. Mrs. Oberlander was born February 4, 1923 in Hopewell Twp., a daughter of the late Charles E. and Lottie B. (Lutz) Saylor. She was a 1941 graduate of Red Lion High School and a former employee of Wolf Brothers Cigar Co., Federal Cigar Co. and other local cigar companies. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Red Lion for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling with her family; going out to eat; writing to pen pals with whom she would participate in refunding; and going to the summer bungalow in Crossroads, where she would spend her time gardening, canning and freezing. Mrs. Oberlander is survived by a daughter, Jane A. Gohn and husband, William C. Jr., of Red Lion; a grandson, Corey Warren; five step grandchildren, William C., III, Berdine, Mary, Alex, and Barry; a great granddaughter, Madison Warren; 11 step great grandchildren; one step great great granddaughter; quite a few nieces and nephews; and a special niece who was like a second daughter, Shirley Waltimyer. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Saylor; and sister, Annie Kline. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ, 161 N.
