Ronald E. Heindel, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Madeline (Hoffmaster) Heindel to whom he was married for 63 years. Born on April 5, 1933 in York, he was a son of the late Emory and Virgie (Barshinger) Heindel. Ron graduated from Dallastown High School in 1951. He proudly played football, basketball, and was a notible high jumber on the track and field team. He received his Bachlor of Science from Franklin and Marshall College, and later his Masters of Science from Duke University. Ron taught chemistry at Central York High School for 35 years and served as the head of the Science Department. In addition to teaching, Ron also coached football and his beloved girls baskeball team. Ron enjoyed music, singing, fishing, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and traveling throughout the United States He will be remembered for his abiding loyalty and love to his wife and family. Along with his wife, Madeline, Ronald is survived by his son, Wane Heindel and his companion, Mary Spangler of Red Lion; two daughters, Rhonda Jenkins and her husband, Stephen of Hillsborough, NC and Stephanie Markey and her husband, Michael of Seven Valleys; three grandchildren, Sarah Heindel of York, Kirstie Jenkins and her husband, Phillip Ray of Hillsborough, NC and Robert Jenkins of Hillsborough, NC; great granddaughter, Maddie Ray; and sister, Joyce Platts of York. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Heindel; brother, Norman Heindel. Mr. Heindel was a member of St. John’s Blymire’s UCC, the American Legion, and the Golden Agers Choral Group. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday December 10, 2021 at St. John’s Blymire’s UCC, 1009 Blymire Rd., Dallastown, PA 17313 with Pastor Lou Ann Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
