Robert D. Zeigler Sr

York-Robert D. Zeigler Sr., 84, passed away Friday November 5, 2010 at his daughter's residence in Springettsbury Township. A celebration of life service will be 2 PM Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the tribute service will be Art Zeigler and Robert's son, Deacon Stephen C. Zeigler. A visitation will be from 1-2 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born August 14, 1926 in York, he was a son of the late J. Frank and Gail A. (Nesbit) Zeigler. With his father, he owned Zeigler's Used Cars and later founded Zeigler's Jeep Sales, near Red Lion. He was also a principal partner in York Consumer Discount Company, Pine Tree Inn and Suburban Bowlerama. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a member of Shiloh American Legion-Post 791, Victory Athletic Assoc., AARP, Fraternal Order of Police-Lodge 15 and loved playing bridge. Mr. Zeigler is survived by, five children, Robert D. Zeigler II, and wife, Martha of Dallastown, Stephen C. Zeigler of Cincinnati, OH, Patrick N. Zeigler and companion, Peggy of York, Anne C. Friel and husband, Paul of Williamsport and Angela M. Diehl of York, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Elaine K. (Kerchner) Zeigler.
