YORK- Robert B. McFarland, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of Mary L. (Taylor) McFarland. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on January 24, 2018. A celebration of life service will held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. McFarland was born in Red Lion on July 14, 1932, the son of the late Samuel A. and Mildred A. (Wise) McFarland. He retired in 1993 from Central York School District after 38 years, where he was a music education teacher. Mr. McFarland was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Red Lion, where he was a member of Cordial Co-workers Sunday school class, and past president of the Consistory, choir member, and orchestra leader. He was a 1951 graduate of Red Lion High School and 1955 graduate of Lebanon Valley College. He was past president of the Lions Club and an inductee of the Leo Club Hall of Fame. He was a member of F&AM Red Lion Lodge, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Red Lion Troubadours which originated during his high school years. The trio remained active for over 60 years. He was past director of Red Lion Concert Band and a member of Spring Garden Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. McFarland leaves two sons, Steve A. McFarland of Reading and Keith R. McFarland and his wife Vicki of York; two daughters, Amy S. Seibert and her husband Bill of Reading, and Tina M. Uberti and her husband Bob of Red Lion; ten grandchildren, Joe, Ashley, Matthew, April, Jared, Brant, Lauren, Gabriella, Olivia, and Taylor; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda G. Keener. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N.
